Messages that follow the customer, one step at a time

A drip is a sequence of WhatsApp messages that starts when something happens: a tag, a new contact, an order, an abandoned cart. It waits, branches on what the person did, and stops when it should. Each step shows what it earned.

  • Branches

Send people down a different path depending on whether they read or tapped the last message, a tag, or a segment rule.

  • A/B on any step

Test two or three versions of a template step on a share of the audience and pick the winner from reply or click results.

  • Safe to leave running

Opt-in checks, quiet hours in each person’s own time zone and a workspace frequency limit apply to every marketing step.

  • Revenue per step

Orders and payments after a step count as its conversions, inside an attribution window you choose.

Everything a lifecycle sequence needs

Welcome series, repeat-purchase nudges, abandoned-cart recovery and renewal reminders, without someone re-creating a broadcast each time.

Triggers

Start the sequence from what customers actually do

Enrol people from a list, a segment as they start matching it, a tag being added, or an event. Store events come from your connected shop, and anything else can enrol people through the API.

  • Tag added (by an agent, an automation, an import or the API)
  • List or segment: people join as they start matching, including time-based rules
  • Events: new contact, added to a list, WhatsApp Flow response, ad chat, conversion, chat resolved
  • Shopify and WooCommerce: order created, order fulfilled, abandoned cart. The WooCommerce plugin sends these today; Shopify events come with the Shopify app, which is coming soon
  • Limits on re-enrolment: once, or again after the days you set, up to a number of times

Steps

Templates, replies, products and payment links

A sequence can have up to 30 steps. Wait minutes, hours or days, or until a time of day in the contact’s own time zone. A step can be an approved template, a plain text or media message while the customer’s 24-hour window is open, a product message, or a payment link.

  • Branch steps send nothing: they check the previous message (read, not read, tapped, not tapped), a tag or a segment rule, and send people down a yes or a no path
  • Where the 24-hour window is closed, a step can fall back to a template, skip, or wait
  • Send a test of any step to your own number first
  • Edit a live sequence: new joiners get the new steps, or move everyone across

Protection

Rules that keep a number healthy

Every marketing step passes the same checks, so a long sequence cannot quietly annoy people. Opt-out always ends a sequence, and cannot be turned off.

  • Marketing opt-in: contacts without a recorded opt-in are skipped and listed. You can enrol them anyway if you confirm you have their consent
  • Quiet hours in each contact’s own time zone: their saved time zone, else the one their phone number’s country uses, else the workspace’s
  • A workspace frequency limit shared by broadcasts, recurring campaigns and drips: a capped step waits until it is allowed
  • A sequence that cannot send, for example when the number is disconnected, pauses itself

Measured step by step

The report follows people through the sequence, not just the first message.

A funnel for each step
Sent, delivered, read, replied, tapped, failed and skipped for every step, with the people waiting at it.
Revenue and conversions
Orders and payments within the attribution window after a step (1 to 90 days, 7 by default) are credited to it, with the revenue.
Branch paths
See how many people took the yes path and the no path at every branch.
A/B results
Each version’s results side by side with the leader, and a button to pick the winner.
Why someone is waiting
The people list says in plain English whether a person is waiting for a delay, quiet hours, the frequency limit or an unapproved template.
On the contact
A contact’s page lists every sequence they joined, what was sent, why they left, and the sequences that skipped them.
Stops when it should
People leave when they reply (a tap on the sequence’s own buttons does not count as a reply), reach your goal, opt out or are removed from the list.
On your phone too
Read drip results and edit steps from the mobile app.

Frequently asked questions

Is a drip different from a broadcast?

A broadcast sends one message to a group at one moment. A drip is a series of messages sent over days, started for each person when they hit the trigger, and it can change course based on what they did.

How do quiet hours work across time zones?

They apply in each contact’s own time. We use the time zone saved on the contact, else the one that the phone number’s country uses when it has only one, else your workspace’s time zone. You can use the workspace quiet hours, set custom hours for a sequence, or switch them off for it.

Will it message people who never opted in?

Not by default. Contacts without a recorded marketing opt-in are skipped at enrolment and listed with the reason. If you have consent outside the platform, you can allow enrolment for that sequence by confirming it.

Does the abandoned-cart trigger work with Shopify?

Drips can start on Shopify and WooCommerce events: order created, order fulfilled and abandoned cart. The WooCommerce plugin sends them today. Shopify order and abandoned-checkout events come with the Shopify app, which is coming soon.

What does a drip cost?

Meta charges for each template message by category, and bills those charges to you directly through your WhatsApp Business Account, at its published rates, with no margin from us. Plan prices are on the pricing page.
